Beani Bazar Cancer and General Hospital is a charity based in the UK that aims to create awareness and provide medical treatment for disadvantaged cancer patients in Bangladesh.
Beani Bazar Cancer and General Hospital was formed on 20th April 2009 in the UK. We are a charity registered and regulated by the Charity Commission in England and Wales (Registration Number 11 33 051). We are also registered as a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee at Companies House in England and Wales (No. 688 20 20).
OUR VISION

Invest in building a state of the art, specialist cancer care hospital. Provide free medical care and treatment for the under privileged and less fortunate in society.
OUR MISSION

– Invest in building a state of the art hospital to compliment the fight against cancer in Bangladesh. Work collaboratively with other cancer hospitals in Bangladesh and internationally.
– Improve public awareness of different cancer symptoms and encourage people to seek care when these arise.
– Ensure people living with cancer in rural areas of Bangladesh can access safe and effective treatment.
– Provide free treatment or subsidised to those who are less fortunate in society and affordable treatment to those who are able to contribute without the burden of financial hardship.
– To improve the quality of life for cancer patients and their families through early diagnosis, treatment and care.
– To develop effective partnerships both in Bangladesh and internationally to increase cancer awareness, promote good health and informed lifestyles.

OUR TARGET

We do not intend to wait and start service until the whole building has been completed. This will take many years. Therefore the project has been split into three core phases. Whereas services will be provided and extended at the end of each stage helping and saving people as we go along.
PHASE 1
__
Phase 1 will involve the construction of our diagnostic, detection and awareness centre in Beani Bazar, Sylhet, Bangladesh. This will involve raising awareness of the issues and providing a primary detection and diagnostic service. Phase 1 will also involve the recruitment of medical staff for the medical centre.
PHASE 2
__
This will expand on the services above and provide further facilities for outpatient care. Diagnosis and specialist treatment will be undertaken as required. We are currently in this phase.
PHASE 3
__
Phase 3 will ultimately be achieved once we are able to provide total cancer care to the general public from our fully resourced self-funding hospital. Our aim will always be to promote awareness of cancer and prevention methods whilst we will diagnose and provide treatment where feasible. We hope to provide care to all cancer sufferers that seek our help and assistance.
OUR PROGRESS

The Charity has progressed significantly over the years and has provided much-needed care and treatment for the poor and disadvantaged people in Bangladesh. Our donors have been very generous and we have been able to raise over £1 million since the start of the charity. The full accounts are available from Companies House and the Charity Commission.
We are pleased to say that with the support of our donors, life members and Trustees we have been able to acquire the land and build a functioning hospital in Beani Bazar, Bangladesh. There is still a lot to do and the current building is only a small part of the full structure yet to be built.
The main infrastructure is now in place with most of the staff, doctors and equipment required to start providing the care and basic treatments as planned. We are currently on target to complete Phase Two of the hospital plan by this year and are preparing to step into the Third Phase.
This involves getting the groundwork ready for the radiotherapy machines and obtaining the permissions required to install such equipment from the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission and so forth. This is a very difficult task however with your support we are confident of being successful.
We will need to raise more funds in order to fully complete our plan. The Radiotherapy Machine alone will cost approximately £2.5 million along with further maintenance costs. We will continue to approach our ongoing donors and contact other large organisations in order to raise the funds as required.
Overall we are very hopeful of the future. This hospital has helped thousands of people over the last few years. This would not have been possible without the help of the donors. We will continue to improve the cancer care related services at the hospital and expand on other general medicine services as we go along.

Our committee of trustees consists primarily of community leaders who have distinguished themselves through business, medicine and academia. Their expertise and influence have been invaluable in turning this project into a reality, and we remain indebted to them all.
A growing number of trustees have donated £25,000 each towards the construction of the diagnostic centre for Phase One of the BBCH project. Many others have donated/committed to donate £25,000 as a trustee since the completion of Phase One.
In particular, we will be forever indebted to Mr. Rouful Islam and his family, who relinquished their rights to the land on which the hospital is built.
